What is a CIC?

A community interest company (CIC) is a new type of company introduced by the United Kingdom government in 2005 under the Companies (Audit, Investigations and Community Enterprise) Act 2004, designed for social enterprises that want to use their profits and assets for the public good.

Outdoor Tribe CIC Objectives

The following are listed in our Articles of Association.

1.1           To use the outdoor environment to engage children, young people and adults in learning and play, enhancing skills, communication and self confidence

1.2           To use the outdoor environment to provide activities for children, young people, adults with learning and mental health issues and their parents, carers and guardians including but not exclusively: ASD; Dementia, and special educational needs.

1.3           To use the outdoor environment to improve the health and wellbeing of the community

1.4           Develop workplace skills through training in woodland crafts and manufacture of products made from woodland materials

1.5           Run sessions designed to deliver training to professionals related to working in an outdoor environment with children, adults and individuals with special needs

Where will Outdoor Tribe CIC deliver their objectives?

Oxlip Wood, between Thrapson and Sudborugh, will only be the place where a small number of sessions will run in respect of deliver of objectives. We will work with identified ‘partner’ venues elsewhere in the East Midlands area as considered suitable to meet the needs of particular community groups.
