Mindfulness with photography

Day to day we live in a fast-paced world, where rushing from one task to another is the norm. Our mind too, from when we wake up, is jumping from one ‘to do’ task to another. Living this way, day after day, can leave us feeling exhausted, which is why we probably yearn to go on holiday – to have a break. However, before you go down the ‘holiday’ route, can we suggest you try one of our ‘wellbeing’ sessions to see if you can connect with that so very elusive, yet delicious  ‘r-e-l-a-x’ feeling inside. It could be a game-changer for you in the way you think about what it is you need, going forwards, for your own medium/long-term wellbeing.

During the Photography and Mindfulness workshop, you’ll be supported to discover the joys of slowing down and connecting with the present moment. Photography becomes a low-key meditative tool, helping you connect more deeply with nature and, you may be surprised to learn, yourself too.

Engaging with mindfulness through photography is a wonderful way to discover a sense of deep inner calm and this  half-day ‘mindful photography’ experience provides opportunity to be more ‘with yourself’ rather than distracted by life’s demands.

Mindful photography is less about learning techniques to improve your photo-taking skills, just as learning mindfulness is not about learning to improve yourself.  However, using a camera, or your mobile phone, to capture meaningful sights in the woodland can deliver a great sense of satisfaction and joy, helping you smile more from the inside.

Feeling safe in a nature space is important, which is why the 20 acre wood provides the perfect space for people to explore and ‘just be’ with the natural world, whether your interest is in photographing insects, flowers, trees, fractal patterns, the sky or clouds through the trees, or you wish to explore particular colours or textures. Mindful photography encourages you to be curious, to explore what is actually meaningful to you, which is something we too often lose sight of, don’t you think?

Learning to ‘just be’ in the present moment can be such a restorative experience and using photography is a fun-based way to experience the pleasure that connection with stillness delivers.

Length of session – 2.5 hours

Cost of session £45, to include all resources provided during the session, plus refreshments.

Minimum number of participants – 6 (we’ll put you on the list)

Maximum number of participants – 10

Take the opportunity to step outside your daily life, giving yourself time and space to explore the joys of ‘just being’ in a beautiful, unspoilt nature place. Slowing down and ‘just being’ in nature, transports you to a state that supports you to connect more deeply with nature and yourself.  Muse on questions you don’t usually have time to explore, such as “what is I really need”? “What matters to me, right now”?

Just arrive with nothing but yourself, without a plan but just an intention to immerse yourself in nature and then see what happens. You may well reach the end of the day with greater awareness of what it is you really need, which you hadn’t time to recognise before. You may just feel a sense of profound relaxation, with an awareness that the pleasures to be gained through relaxation are worth cultivating.

Giving yourself time and space can be empowering, providing ways of thinking that can be really helpful to making future decisions about what’s important to you.

We’ll welcome you to what is simply an oasis of tranquility where exclusive access to the 20-acre woodland will be yours. The focus of the day will be on promoting relaxation and stress relief through nature connection activities designed to soothe the mind and restore emotional balance. effecting an increase in creativity and problem-solving skills.

Be guided in ways to become more grounded and connected with the natural world and also yourself. Reflective and/or practical woodland-based activities can be provided, designed to encourage greater focus that helps turn down the volume of the chattering mind. After a few hours of nature connection it is usual for our guests to experience a sense of inner peace and stillness which helps restore emotional balance.

Engage with ‘nature inspiration’ activities that will draw you in to notice far more about the natural world, gaining new perspectives on not only nature but yourself too.  Gentle guidance to help you recognise how fostering curiosity to consider something in ways you haven’t before is an invaluable skill for both personal and work-related creative thinking.

Spending a day in a tranquil natural woodland, engaging with guided nature connection activities, will bathe your senses, relax your body, revive your mental energy levels and restore emotional equilibrium.
